WirePayToday.com Many a movie has been created about WWII, both in the war along with more rccent years. Even in century brimming with horrifying calamities, WWII can stake its claim as the major disastrous events with the twentieth century. It killed lots of people, tore families apart, created floods of refugees, and otherwise destroyed the lives of varied others. The war left its blood-stained mark on everyone who lived through it. Its importance for both the collective memory of mankind, so that as a resource of gripping stories that a lot of people could connect with, inspired filmakers throughout the war and possesses molded many filmmakers since.

WWII is a vast subject, you need to include films on many different themes.
I?m no fan with the blood and guts sort of movie ? of soldiers and battlefields and glory and tragic deaths. Films about the Holocaust can be extremely powerful, while being great pieces of art, nevertheless they can be tough to watch, while they speak about the most unspeakable of horrors. Other WWII movie themes include romances in war-torn Europe and Asia, spy stories, life in Britain in the blitz, and others.

My favorite WWII films, however, are those films that pinpoint the homefront and tell smaller, more personal stories of how the war affected the lives of people, films that tell the warm quieter tales of interpersonal relationships along with the impact that the war had with them. I was your baby boomer, born inside mid-fifties, so I never experienced the war directly and I only discovered these films a great 50 years after the war had ended. Although I?m no expert on such films, I do have a very few favorites that I?d prefer to share.

Mrs. Miniver (1942), was developed during the war. It boggles my head to think about such films being produced, at the same time the events with the war were unfolding, with neither cast nor audience knowing how much worse the war may get, when or the way it would end, what sort of would win, and whether or not they?d have you ever gotten to find out or their loved ones again. Mrs. Miniver tells the storyline of an comfortable middle class family moving into southern England and how the start of the blitz shattered their cozy, pristine world. Sure, the characters and sets certainly are a bit too glamorous and picture-perfect to ring true but, since the war escalates and its particular tragic events unfold, the reality with the war hits far too near home. I don?t want to give away any further in the plot for those who?d want to see the film, since it?s worth seeking out.

The final film that I?d prefer to discuss is named I?ll Be Seeing You (1944). Ginger Rogers plays women on leave from the women?s prison. Joseph Cotten is really a soldier recovering from shellshock. These two damaged people, both feeling isolated and out of sync using the hectic wartime world, find solace and strength in one another. It?s a simple story, beautifully told, and the atmosphere within the home of Ginger?s aunt and uncle is attractive and warm. There are no villains here, it?s simply a pleasant home full of nice people attempting to treat the other person decently, even though they don?t always achieve this. Actors Spring Byington and Tom Tully bring a genuine warmth on the family scenes so you?ll even locate a teenage Shirley Temple.
